Deep hole drill type:
Deep hole drills are divided into two types based on chip removal methods: external chip removal and internal chip removal. The external chip removal includes gun drill, deep hole flat drill and deep hole Fried Dough Twists drill; Due to the different processing systems used, the internal chip removal can be divided into three types: BTA deep hole drill, jet drill, and DF deep hole drill.
1. Gun drill: With only one cutting section, it is used to machine the gun barrel. During drilling, the cutting fluid enters from the middle of the drill pipe, is sprayed into the cutting area through the small hole on the head of the drill bit, and then is discharged from the V-shaped groove of the drill bit with chips. Gun drills are suitable for processing deep holes with an aperture of 2-20 millimeters and a ratio of hole depth to aperture greater than 100.
2. BTA deep hole drill: Cutting fluid is fed into the gap between the drill pipe and the hole wall, and chips are discharged from the inner hole of the drill pipe by the pressure of the cutting fluid. BTA deep hole drill is suitable for drilling deep holes with an aperture of 6 millimeters or more, and the ratio of hole depth to aperture is less than 100. Its production efficiency is more than three times higher than that of gun drill.
3. Jet drill: a multi blade deep hole drill with inner and outer layers of drill pipes. Most of the cutting fluid enters the cutting area from the gap between the inner and outer drill pipes, and then enters the inner pipe along with the chips; Another small portion of the cutting fluid enters the inner tube through the crescent shaped hole at the end of the inner tube, creating a jet effect and forming a low-pressure zone to help suction the chips. Jet drilling does not require strict cutting fluid sealing devices and is suitable for drilling deep holes with a diameter of 18 millimeters or more and a hole depth to aperture ratio of less than 100.
4. DF deep hole drill: This type of drill bit absorbs the advantages of BTA deep hole drill and jet drill, adopts a single tube, and the chip removal relies on the dual effects of pushing and suction, improving the chip removal ability. It can drill deep holes with a diameter of more than 8mm.
